6 cups of water
4 cups sugar
Cut tamarind paste into chunks and cover with water.
Bring mixture to a boil over medium heat then simmer on low for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Strain. Mix in 4 cups of sugar. Stir until mixture comes to a boil and simmer for 30 minutes. Cool in pan. Refrigerate.
